The federal government will not be able to revoke the tax exempt status of an organization because of their stance on religious beliefs about marriage, sex outside of marriage, or transgender rights if the South Dakota House has anything to say about it.

On Monday the House voted to approve the measure by a margin of 46-10. The plan is now on its way to the Senate.

This vote is a big win for people in the state with conservative views and will almost surely enrage those who lean to the left and view it as discriminatory towards certain minority groups.

The main sponsor of the plan in the House is Republican Representative Scott Craig. He says the plan is about protecting the freedom of speech of people who have conservative views. According to Craig, "The Founding Fathers never intended erotic freedom to trump religious freedom."

Opponents, like Democratic Representative Peggy Gibson worry that a discriminatory bill like this one will cause potentially costly legal issues for the state.
