Studies have been conducted. The data has been examined and one thing remains the same. South Dakota Wildlife is still recovering from a devastating drought.

Recently the South Dakota Game Fish and Parks announced the number of Deer Licenses released to South Dakota Hunters is expected to be down in areas.

Ask anyone who hunts and they'll probably tell you, yes numbers are down. And it's not just deer. The extreme dry weather was hard on pheasants and other wildlife numbers as well.

This past fall it was easy to see that while numbers down, condidtions  appeared to be improving. Where I hunt I noticed a good number of younger bucks and a good base population of does. Hopefully that's a good sign for future hunting.

Hopefully the extreme dry conditions are behind us and wildlife numbers can recover.
