South Dakota Barrel Racer Shelby Vinson

What's it like to chase a passion and chase a dream?  Lennox, SD Barrel Racer Shelby Vinson is finding out first hand.

This past winter, we wrote a series of stories on South Dakota Barrel Racer Lisa Lockhart. We quickly found out that there is a huge contingent of barrel racing fans and rodeo fans interested in the event. We thought it would be fun to find a young, up and coming barrel racer and follow her with a series of stories. We chose Shelby Vinson.

Vinson home schools to make it all possible as she spends a considerable amount of time on the road. This past winter she spent most of her time in College Park, TX.

We asked Shelby if she would be interested in letting us ride along on her quest to be one of the best. She said yes! Shelby will be sending us photos and video from the road showing what it's like to travel from rodeo to rodeo and event to event along with quick stories of her big adventure.

March 21 and 22nd, Vinson will be in McCook Nebraska for a Mid-States sanctioned event. We'll follow along and keep you up to date with how things go for her. After McCook, she'll be coming back to Sioux Falls to run in the SDRA rodeo as part of the Tri-State Horse Expo.
