The expansion of Sioux Falls to the south comes to Cliff Avenue and 69th Street. Transformation of the area has begun.

Louise, Minnesota and Western Avenues have seen their fair share of progress with the streets already reflecting the traffic volume. Cliff Avenue can wait no longer for the upgrade.

North of 69th Street, one northbound lane is being reconstructed including approaches and entrances to numerous streets along that part of the segment. That’s child’s play compared to the intersection itself.

Expansion is on the order as the new drainage inlet shows how wide 69th Street will be once complete. It’s also evident from the images how much has been displaced in the process.

Cliff Avenue will be widened with new transmission lines on the metal poles in place and the wooden ones removed. It’s a testament to the rural nature of the area that will become suburbia eventually.

On the south end are barriers at 85th and Cliff Avenue. Look for more modernization in this area because in five to ten years this area will also be much different than it is in 2015.
