This latest map from the Weather Channel shows South Dakota is in for much colder temperatures for the upcoming weekend. Much colder temperatures in the 20's on the way in a few days.

You've, no doubt, noticed the impressively cold temps in northern Canada on the map above. Check out this story from the Associated Press:

"How cold is it in North Pole, Alaska? Too cold for the ice sculptors. The town in the Fairbanks area will host the Christmas in the Ice Festival this weekend. But temps of 40 below zero are making it tough on the ice artists. It's so cold tools are breaking and electrical cords are snapping. It's also too cold for the ice. The chairman of the event says ice becomes brittle at 20 below. One carver had a wing on his angel break. The ice sculptor had to bring the ice wing inside to warm up before gluing it back together."
