Artesian, South Dakota.  Have you ever been there?  I've been by, (5 miles east of the Highway 34-Highway 37 junction, 20 miles north of Interstate 90, and 90 miles northwest of Sioux Falls) but I don't think I've ever stopped in.

According to the towns web-site (yes they have one) Artesian got it's name from,

the abundance of flowing wells, known as artesian wells, in this part of South Dakota. It was founded in 1883.

Artesian in the east central part of Sanborn County,  and if you live there your kids go to Sanborn Central.

I've been by, but have never stopped in.  I'll have to sometime.  And take a closer look at Artesian, SD.  Today's Small Town of the Day.
