Skyforce got big stuff from their big men in a win over Texas Saturday night. Their winning streak stands at seven with a 86-76 road win over the Legends.

The last time Sioux Falls (7-2) won seven straight regular season games, it bridged two seasons. Closing out 2013-14, the Skyforce won their last six games and added a season-opening win in 2014-15. Dig a little deeper into that 2013-14 campaign and that December also featured a string of seven wins.

This current streak has been its own little creature with each win coming by double digits. Never before in 27 seasons has Sioux Falls ever accomplished such a feat. Back in 2006-07 the ‘Force won 4 in a row as part of 6 out of 7 games by ten points or more.

After a back and forth first half, Texas (5-5) came out of intermission and erased a 9-point halftime deficit. Sioux Falls countered with a 15-5 run over the last 5 minutes of the third period to lead 60-52 at the end of the third quarter.

Since both teams were reasonably strong defensively and somewhat sloppy offensively points were definitely at a premium. The Legends shot 34 percent (2-28 from long range) with 20 turnovers while Sioux Falls went 43 percent (5-23 from deep) and 22 giveaways.

Jarnell Stokes rose above the chill shooting 9 of 12 from the floor for 20 points with 7 boards for the ‘Force. Meanwhile Rodney McGruder caught fire in the second half to finish with 15 points and 7 rebounds, Byron Mullens had a line of 14 points, 10 rebounds and just missing a double-double DeAndre Liggins 9 points, 14 rebounds plus 5 assists.

The Legends top performers were Tu Holloway who racked up 18 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and Jamil Wilson who had 15 points with 10 rebounds. Sioux Falls has another date on their Texas swing at Rio Grande Valley on Monday night. The Legends will wait until Friday for their next contest as they host Reno.
