It took overtime, but the Sioux Falls Skyforce beat the Iowa Energy for the first time in three tries this season 119-112 on Tuesday night at the Sanford Pentagon.

Nerves were stretched thin as the two teams combined for 13 technical fouls and 5 ejections among coaches and players.

Skyforce Head Coach Dan Craig acknowledged the lack of restraint had an effect on the game. “We saw them come apart a little bit. It was just an ugly game and it could have gotten even uglier. I was proud of the guys for keeping their heads and staying with it to find a way to win.

Tre Kelley led Sioux Falls (19-4) with 29 points and 6 assists including a crucial three that opened the scoring in overtime which he had a feeling was coming. “I read the defense and once Andrew Harrison went under the screen, I just stepped back and freed my mind. I just wanted to get that shot in.”

The Energy (12-12) were led by Harrison with 31 points to lead all scorers, but was one of three Iowa players ejected from the game during overtime. Fortunately the two teams will have a cooling off period before they play again in late February.

With the win, the Skyforce have won 10 straight at home. Sioux Falls will play at Grand Rapids on Friday and at Canton on Saturday. Iowa will host Delaware on Saturday.
