Despite a rough second quarter, the Sioux Falls Skyforce controlled the other three stanzas to start their four-game road trip with a 117-101 decision at Iowa.

During that second 12 minute span the Energy (2-7) outscored the visitors 43-31 to take a lead into intermission that eventually swelled to 9 points early in the third. It was Keith Benson for the Skyforce (6-2) hitting four consecutive mid-range jumpers to wrestle the lead back late in the period.

Then new addition Pat Miller’s scoring spree sparked a 13-2 run that put the game in the rear-view mirror early in the last quarter to seal the win. Iowa went cold from the floor in the second half shooting 30 percent meanwhile the ‘Force sizzled at 57 percent.

Okaro White was a steady presence all game long with 29 points and 10 rebounds. Luis Montero had a solid 22 points and 7 boards with Benson posting a double-double also (20 points, 10 rebounds). Briante Weber’s exploits were also noteworthy with 11 points, 9 assists and 8 rebounds while Miller finished with 14 tallies.

The Iowa crew was led by center Matt Costello’s 22 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Wayne Selden notched 19 points for the Energy’s cause.

Sioux Falls heads to the east coast to face the Long Island Nets for the first time in franchise history on Monday. For the Energy, Texas will ride into Des Moines for a Monday matchup as well.
