Sioux Falls Police arrested a 17-year-old boy following a shooting incident Wednesday night in a house located in the 2600 block of South Duluth Avenue.

Police Spokesman Sam Clemens says a group of people were in the residence when a gun was fired and hit one of the guests.

"One of them was a 17-year-old who ended up having a gun. He was messing around with the gun and it went off. It hit an 18-year-old girl in the back side. The bullet ended up shattering her pelvis. She had to have surgery in the hospital to fix the shattered pelvis. The suspect ended up running away from the house after it happened. We were able to find him nearby."

Clemens says the Sioux Falls teenager faces several charges, including aggravated assault, fleeing police and possession of marijuana.
