After building a big lead, the Sioux Falls Skyforce had just enough to complete a 104-101 road victory against the Erie BayHawks on Saturday night in front of a crowd of 5,833 at Erie Insurance Arena.
One of the frequent phrases uttered in the Skyforce camp this season is a full 48 minutes is needed to win.  For a crucial 5 minute stretch of the fourth quarter those words rang true as Erie (11-26) shaved a 14 point deficit to 2 markers with 4:13 left.  The deficit was chopped to 1 with under 90 seconds left.  However for every BayHawk challenge, Sioux Falls (22-15) responded.  To be specific, the parry was composed of a Justin Hamilton score off a miss and clutch free throws from Larry Drew II and Tre Kelley to slam the door.

Until a Lewis Jackson desperation heave to send the game to overtime rattled out of the cylinder, the Skyforce had little reason to breathe easy.  Give the BayHawks credit for the rally, but it stands as a testament to their frustrating season.  Erie guard Scott Suggs sparked a good portion of the comeback and finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds with running mate Micah Downs netting 24.  Sioux Falls picked up huge efforts from Henry Walker and Anthony Mason, Jr. who each compiled season high point totals with 31 and 27 respectively.  Mason, Jr. was especially crisp by hitting 12-16 on his field goal attempts.  Take a moment and relive the exploits of Walker, Kelley, Hamilton and Drew in the adjoining clip along with Downs, the high-flying BayHawks forward.

The Skyforce pick up both a road win and a season series sweep by taking both games against Erie, duplicating the trick pulled against Delaware the previous night.  In a sense, Skyforce Head Coach Pat Delany will get multiple bundles of joy this weekend.

The road sweep will come in handy with the league-leading Rio Grande Valley Vipers invading the Sanford Pentagon Thursday and Friday.  Erie’s next action will be Monday night at Springfield.
