SIOUX FALLS – It wasn’t exactly the way people visiting Sioux Falls from out of state should be treated.

Police say four teenagers from Nebraska reported being the victims of road rage in the city on Friday evening.

Officer Sam Clemens said the teens told police the incident began when the driver accidentally cut off another vehicle in the area of West Madison Street and North Louise Avenue, and the other motorist began following them closely.

“The suspect was tailgating the whole way. They said he was so close they weren’t able see his headlights as they were driving,” said Clemens.

At one point on Madison Street, Clemens says the driver in the suspect vehicle pulled out an axe and waved it at the teens a couple of times.

The teens from Nebraska, three 18-year-olds and a 17-year-old, were able to separate themselves from the other driver on I-29 and he exited at 41st Street.
They described the man as a white male in his 20s, and his vehicle as a black GMC Sierra. They were able to get the vehicle license number, which they gave to police.
