Sioux Falls Police Officers responded on Sunday to a call from a taxi driver who reported hearing and seeing a 21-year-old woman screaming from a residence at 8th Street and Cleveland Avenue.

"Once officers arrived on scene," Police Sgt. Paul Creviston told us,"they started to knock on the door. They again heard a female who let out some pretty terrifying screams according to the report. Due to that fact, they tried to force their way inside. While this was going on, the female was able to open the door for them."

Creviston says the couple recently ended their relationship.

"During the course of talking to the female victim, she told the officers that she had gone to the house to pick up some property due to a recent breakup with the boyfriend. While the victim was there to get the property, the boyfriend arrived. A physical altercation took place between the two of them. At one point during the assault, it looks like the suspect started to strangle the victim. She began having blurry vision."

Creviston says 27-year-old Brandon Liesinger of Sioux Falls was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and 2nd degree kidnapping.
