Police are investigating an early-morning stabbing in Sioux Falls.

Sergeant Craig Babekuhl says officers were called at 2:48 a.m. to the 1000 block of North Dakota Avenue, where they found a 29-year-old man with several lacerations to his left hand.

The man told police he had been stabbed by a black male who had run from the scene.

Sgt. Babekuhl says victim and suspect had argued over a woman they both know, and the victim was stabbed.

The suspect is described as a black male, six feet tall, with his hair in corn rows. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark blue shirt or sweatshirt.

The victim was treated by an ambulance crew at the scene for several lacerations to his left hand and then transported to a hospital.
