The grass is growing and leaves are starting to cover the trees. We've enjoyed a few weeks of spring weather, but Sioux Falls may be in for a winter flashback.

The National Weather Service office in Sioux Falls says we're heading into mid-May cold spell. Temperatures may average nearly 10 degrees below normal over the next few days, with the coldest temperatures Friday night. Forecast lows Friday night into Saturday are in the lower 30s for southeastern South Dakota.

Interrupting our run into summer with a frosty night may not be an ideal May evening, it's not out of the ordinary. The Weather Service says, "...we’re just past our average last 32 degree low temperatures for Spring. However, we’re still in a prime window for chilly low temperatures, with the average last frost date still approaching in many locations."

Remember to make sure your plants are ready for the cold.
