The Sioux Falls  Marathon-Half Marathon and Miracle 5-K will go down as another huge success for the city of Sioux Falls.  Over 1000 volunteers donated their time Sunday morning September 9th to help make the race happen.

Jammin' Jay and myself have been fortunate enough to help out with the P.A. for the event for the last 4 years and we have a great time with the staff of The Sanford Wellness Center every year!   Part of our agreement of announcing the event is that we stay until the last runner finishes the race.

It was nearly 1:00 p.m. and I was talking with a gentlemen from Illinois who had just finished the race.  He told me, "the real stories with these marathons are usually told right here at the end with the people that finish toward the end of the pack."  He had suffered a heart attack earlier this year and one last year and said, "I shouldn't be here today."   He said, "I run to stay alive."

Well, we chatted some more as he was waiting for his friend from Illinois to finish the race.  26.2 miles.  He did it!

Here's the video of the finish of this years Sioux Falls Marathon, Half-Marathon and Miracle 5K.

Coming tomorrow another story from last years Marathon you might not know about!
