Police say a Sioux Falls man walked into his kitchen Sunday afternoon and found someone he didn't know sitting in his basement stairway.

Officer Sam Clemens says it was around 3:15 PM when the 86-year-old man found the intruder in his home in the 2800 block of South Center Avenue.

He says the man didn't know the intruder, and when he spoke, the intruder didn't respond.

The homeowner called police, and when they checked on the intruder they found some methamphetamine.

Clemens says 24-year-old Dylan Boyd Brown, a transient from Sioux Falls, was arrested for second-degree burglary and possession of a controlled substance.

He says police don't know how Brown got into the man's house.

Brown was checked out at a hospital and then taken to jail after he was cleared medically.
