The charges against a Sioux Falls man include third-degree burglary and felony possession of stolen property after police say he was caught with nearly a dozen stolen knives and other items early Monday.

Information Officer Sam Clemens says an officer saw a man running near a strip mall in the 3100 block of West 41st Street around 3:30 a.m., with merchandise in his hands.

He says the man ran into a wooded area nearby, where he was found by other officers. Clemens says he had a total of 11 knives and other property, with some of the knives carrying tags from Knife Works.

Management was called and Clemens says officers found that the store had been burglarized with a number of items taken.

Clemens says in addition to the other charges, 30-year-old Adam Scott Wardell of Sioux Falls was arrested for possession of burglary tools, fleeing, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

He says the break-in was the third at Knife Works in the past two months, but police don't know if the same person was responsible for all three.
