Anyone who has ever dreamed of owning their own business now has another reason to consider Sioux Falls as the place to begin.

WalletHub looked at 150 of the largest cities in the country and compared them in three categories and a multitude of sub-categories in order to rank them.

The three main categories were:

A) Business Environment;
B) Access to Resources; and
C) Business Costs.

All of the data WalletHub used came from sources like the U.S. Census Bureau, the Council for Community and Economic Research, Yelp, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and many more.

In the sub-categories they took into account average length of the work week in hours, five year business survival rates, financing accessibility, higher education assets and number of college-educated workers in the population, as well as cost of living, office space affordability, labor costs, and corporate taxes.

When all of the data was distilled down, a top ten list was revealed:

  1. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
  2. Salt Lake City, Utah
  3. Charlotte, North Carolina
  4. Tulsa, Oklahoma
  5. Grand Rapids, Michigan
  6. Durham, North Carolin
  7. St. Louis, Missouri
  8. Austin, Texas
  9. Amarillo, Texas
  10. Sioux Falls, South Dakota
