It looked like Washington had control of their city rival heading into the fourth quarter with a ten point lead, but Lincoln wasn't going to go quietly.

Following the disappointment of last season's second place finish, Jeff Halseth and his Patriots aimed for a state championship in 2015. After suffering two losses to Washington during the regular season, and one loss for the District 2 Final, Lincoln managed to take the Class AA Boys State Basketball Championship right from Washington. Washington held a 40-30 lead into the fourth but the Patriots outscored the Warriors 17-5 leading to a  47-45 win in front of a packed house at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.

Kaleb Johnson led the Patriots with 21 points. Addison Park added 10 points, while Tate Lindsey led the team with rebounds with six. Sioux Falls Washington's Deng Geu had 14 points, and Spirit of Su winner Cole Benson added 10. Washington finishes the season with a 22-3 record. Lincoln receives a state championship with a 21-5 record.

The championship for Lincoln is their second title since 2009 and their third overall in Class AA under the three class system. Lincoln has won five titles in school history dating back to 1970.
