Sioux Falls Lincoln High School Student Brings Handgun to School
A student at Sioux Falls Lincoln High School has been arrested for bringing a handgun to school.
Principal Val Fox says no one was hurt or threatened. Other students reported the suspicious activity.
According to KDLT News, Fox says when the administration and school resource officer approached the student in question, the student took off running. Fox says when the student was detained and searched, officers found a handgun.
Keloland reports that police said that the gun was stolen in Sioux Falls and that the teenager is charged with possession of stolen property, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, and possession of a concealed weapon.
The school did not go into lockdown, and the school day is continued as normal.
State law requires any student bringing a firearm to school to be expelled for 365 days.
The student was under the age of 18 and will not be identified at this time.
