The road to the 2016 NCAA Men's Final Four basketball tournament will not begin in Sioux Falls.

Monday morning, the NCAA announced it was keeping the First Four games to the tournament in Dayton, Ohio, where they've been since 2011.

The Sioux Falls Sports Authority had submitted a bid for the three-year contract, running from 2016 to 2018.

For a decade prior to the First Four games, Dayton hosted a "play-in" game to start the tournament.

Monday afternoon, members of the Sioux Falls Sports Authority and the Convention and Visitors Bureau, met the media to discuss the failed bid.

I spoke with Sports Authority Executive Director Wes Hall about the bid and the NCAA's announcement this Thursday about the sites for the 2016 women's tournament, which Sioux Falls is hoping to land.

Sioux Falls will host eight different NCAA Division II national championship events, starting in March of 2015.
