One Sioux Falls driver definitely started their Thursday off on the wrong foot.

KDLT News is reporting that Sioux Falls Police were called to the area of 8th and Western Avenue around 12:30 AM Thursday morning (December 15) when an erratic driver smashed their vehicle into a parked pickup truck.

Police arrived at the scene of the accident only to discover the car was actually pinned underneath the backside of the truck.

Given the way the car was positioned under the truck, the driver's side door of the car was not functioning properly, so police had to help remove the driver from the vehicle.

Police also needed to extinguish a small fire that was burning underneath the hood of the driver’s car.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital a short time later for an evaluation and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities suspect alcohol was the cause of the crash. No arrests have been made at this time.
