It appears that an incident Sunday night was motivated by revenge as the suspect backed off after realizing they were chasing the wrong person.

Officer Sam Clemens says a man and woman were driving along Russell Street when a pickup started tailgating their vehicle.

“(The two cars) turned on to Minnesota, drove around the neighborhood and eventually pulled into a parking lot near Brookings and Minnesota.

The other vehicle stopped and two men in the pickup confronted the couple.

“The driver got out, threatened the victim and his passenger with a knife.” Clemens says they called the passenger by a different name in the exchange. “She said, ‘No. That’s not me.’ They basically said, ‘Okay,” and then left."

Clemens says the knife was described as 8 to 10 inches long. Police are looking for the suspects who are described as Native American men. The driver who also showed the knife is described as a 40 year-old around 5’ 10” and heavy set. The passenger was about 5’ 5” and approximately 220 pounds.
