The stretch of 26th Street in Sioux Falls from South Shirley Avenue to Marion Road is going to see the speed limit reduced and a median added in the intersection of West 26th Street and South St. Michaels Circle/South Edna Avenue following numerous accidents including two recent fatal accidents according to a press release from the Public Works Department Thursday.

Traffic from Edna Avenue and St. Michaels Circle will no longer be able to make left-hand turns onto 26th Street or cross 26th Street. Traffic from 26th Street still will be able to turn left at the intersection.

The speed limit will be reduced from 45 to 35 immediately. The median will be installed next week, though a temporary median will be in place as early as Friday.
