It might have been another sub par year for the Canaries on the field, but Sioux Falls' minor league baseball team is in elite company off the field.

The Birds have earned the praise of Ballpark Digest, who gave the club an honorable mention in the 2013 Logo/Branding of the Year award category.

In a team press release, Team President and CEO Tom Garrity said:

We’re grateful for the recognition, because it reflects the tremendous support we received from our fans.

A lot of credit for the success this year goes to our outstanding corporate sponsors and a dedicated staff.

The club just completed their 21st season of independent baseball, the team's first since re-branding with the Canaries moniker, after three seasons playing as the Sioux Falls Pheasants.

Despite going just  42-58, and finishing last in the American Association's North Division in 2013, the Canaries saw a 26 percent increase in attendance from 2012 and the highest total attendance in team history, averaging more than 3,300 fans a game.
