Sioux Falls Bicycle Crash Victim Dies

Sioux Falls Police confirm that the 63 year-old man hit by a car while he was riding a bicycle near the Empire Mall has died.

Officer Sam Clemens says the crash happened on October 8 and he died on Wednesday October 14. “The man was riding his bicycle along the sidewalk and a car went to merge into traffic didn’t see him.”

Dale Isac Kimpton of Sioux Falls was wearing a helmet when his front wheel was struck by a 2011 Toyota Camry. The driver of the vehicle was attempting a turn to the west out of a business driveway and did not see the bicycle.

Clemens says the investigation continues with possible charges to come. “We’ll work with both the city attorney and state’s attorney to decide if any charges are appropriate. The woman driving the car is described as a woman from Florence, South Dakota.
