Look in the trunk of a car that belongs to a parent and you are sure to find some sporting equipment, toys or even schoolbags that belong to the child.  The one thing you should never find in the trunk of that car, however, is the child!

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case when police stopped a Florida woman for driving with a broken headlight.

Authorities in Broward County, Florida, attempted to get Breona Synclair Watkins to pull over after noticing a broken headlight on her vehicle.  But instead of stopping her car, Watkins continued to drive for another quarter mile.

When authorities approached the 19-year old's vehicle, they heard crying coming from inside the trunk, opened the trunk and found the five-month old baby laying on a large pair of gardening shears, a rusty hanger, some plastic CD cases and a rusted tire-iron.  Authorities also found a used gas can, a used fuel pump and plastic bags in Watkin's trunk.

Watkins told the officers that she didn't want to get ticketed for not having her child in a car seat, so she had another passenger hide the baby in the trunk.

I'm guessing, however, that she would have preferred that charge instead of her actual charges.  Watkins was arrested on charges of child abuse, resisting an officer, driving without a license and failure to have a child restraint.

The baby is in the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families.
