Severe thunderstorms, funnel clouds and tornadoes were spotted in portions of South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa Tuesday (June 14).

Day County Sheriff Barry Hillestad says Up to eight funnel clouds were confirmed in the northeast area of the state near Webster and Waubay.

Tornado sirens went off in several communities as the storm system swept through during the late afternoon and early evening hours.

Reports of funnel clouds and tornados were also reported near Pipestone, Worthington Minnesota and Sibley, Iowa.

David Gullaume from Sioux City was parking his camper at a site near Lake Okabena in Worthington. Although he was initially hoping to have a site with nearby trees and shade, he was later grateful to have a clear overhead.

As the storm swept through, a tree crashed into nearby campers and a picnic shelter. No injuries reported. Damage reports are still coming in.
