Sanford Children’s Hospital Named One of the Most Colorfully Inspiring in the World
Since my first tour of Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, I was impressed with the attention to details. Not only to provide the best care in the region for our kids, but to tailor the hospital TO the kids. The colorful artwork that decorates the hallways, to the little hidden doors, at child’s height, that have little scenes. To the brightly colored banners that greet you in the entryway to the ceiling tiles that have been painted by kids who have spent time there. And for those of you reading this from outside the city or new transplants to Sioux Falls, Sanford Children’s Hospital is called the ‘Castle of Care’ because it looks like a castle!
As I’ve learned, Sanford is not the only Children’s Hospital in the world trying to make the experience a little less scary for kids by creating these fantasy-themed designs and characters to hopefully distract the children a little from the scary things they’re going through.
MHA, the Online Guide to Master’s In Health Administration Degrees, has recognized Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls for the efforts made in this area by naming it one of the 10 Most Colorfully Inspiring Children’s Hospitals in the World. Let that sink in. In the WORLD.
Joining Sioux Falls on the list are Children’s Hospitals in Texas (Austin and Houston) Phoenix, Arizona; Orlando, Florida; and Columbus, Ohio in the U.S. Plus international hospitals in London, Australia and Sweden!
I’ve spent the past six years singing the praises of the wonderful hospital and staff we are so fortunate to have here in Sioux Falls to anyone and everyone who would listen and will continue to do so. Sanford Children’s Hospital is another reason that living in Sioux Falls makes us one of the best kept secrets in America (but the word is definitely getting out!)
Please make plans to join us during our annual Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon, live from Sanford Children’s Hospital, on March 27 and 28.
