Ryan Follese brings a lazy charm to “Float Your Boat,” a perfect summer song that celebrates being kind of lazy. The country newcomer tributes beer drinking, time killing and sun tanning during this debut on Big Machine Label Group.

What begins as an acoustic country break turns into an anthemic jam at the chorus. One senses it coming — it’s kind of what you hope a reformed rocker would do on his country debut, isn’t it? Follese doesn’t overcomplicate a message that is best soaked up from a lounge chair on the lake.

The electric guitar and Follese’s command of the lyrics stand out on “Float Your Boat.” There is some pop polish to his delivery, but a shot of banjo at the bridge helps him stay within country's expanding lane. The song is available at Spotify and on satellite radio. He hasn't released the single to terrestrial radio yet, but several stations have begun to play it on their own.

Did You Know?: Ryan Follese is the frontman for pop-rock band Hot Chelle Rae.

Ryan Follese's "Float Your Boat" Lyrics:

“The final countdown to the weekend / I’m talking three days off the deep end / The kind of buzz that keeps you reeling / Go get that something in the water you’ve been needing.”

Chorus:
“Whatever floats your boat / Whatever winds your watch / We got time to kill / Once we get off the clock / We got beer to drink / And we got trash to talk / Life’s so fast you gotta learn to live it slow / Float your boat.”

“TGIF, thank God I’m faded / Some call it lazy, I call it amazing / A pink umbrella made in the shade and / I don’t ever think I’m taking off these Ray-Bans.”

“Whatever floats your boat / Whatever flips your switch / If it’s on your mind / Then baby, scratch that itch / If it turns you on / Then let it get you off / Even if that mother trucker’s got a hole / Float your boat.”
