This is it, your chance to weigh in on the new music we play — and get an early taste of some great new songs. This week Sam Riggs squares off against Jason Cassidy in the RTX New Music Challenge.

Up first, Sam Riggs. When he released the video for “When the Lights Go Out,” last summer, it caused some pretty big waves. Who was this young, unknown band from Texas landing a No. 1 video on CMT Pure? Well, by now we all know. In fact, his last single Angola's Lament, spent about 8 months on the Texas charts, and will wind up being one of the biggest songs in 2014. Check out his follow-up, Hold on Let Go.

With Texas radio hits under his belt (What if, Blame it on Waylon, Ride of Your Life, Honky Tonk Heaven) Jason Cassidy is a guy who’s music you probably recognize, even if you don’t recognize his name, yet. With his second studio album Cassidy makes his musical intentions quite clear — to “Keep it Country." Give his latest, Take it Off, a listen.
