If you often take Rice Street on your commute, Sioux Falls officials are advising to take an alternate route for the next week.

Special equipment was delivered to set the rail cars back on the tracks after they were derailed on Friday November 18. Rice street continues to be closed for about a week while the broken rail line and damaged pavement is replaced.

The broken rail line was slated for replacement, but now been moved up to immediate work.  The new rail line is expected to last for fifty years.

To get to Great Bear Recreation Park, take I-90 to the EROS exit and head south on Timberline, then west on Rice street.

Other roads getting to Brandon include I-90 to the Brandon Exit, East Madison Street to Highway 11, or East Arrowhead to Highway 11.
