Senator George McGovern and Faith Temple Church in Sioux Falls share a common bond: feeding the hungry!  Faith Temple has been holding weekly food giveaways for over three and a half years.  Senator McGovern, during his career, was committed to feeding the hungry---at home and around the world.  In fact the Senator---a Democrat ---teamed up with Republican Bob Dole to create an international food for education and child nutrition program.  Because of their efforts, the two men shared the 2008 World Food Drive.

Faith Temple Pastor Stewart Oaks says the Senator's impact on hunger will be felt for generations to come.

Senator McGovern died Sunday at a Sioux Falls Hospice at the age of 90.   A public viewing is planned for 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science in Sioux Falls.

A private burial will take place at a later date at Rock Creek Cemetery in Washington D.C.
