Last year Randy Travis was breaking the law, now he's making it. During a recent interview, Billy Ray Cyrus revealed that he and Travis are starring in a TV pilot that could get picked up soon. It's a return to television for Cyrus, who's starred on several shows since his career was jump-started in 1992.

"I play a dysfunctional Elvis impersonator who becomes a preacher. Randy's the sheriff," Cyrus tells Billboard. "It's a great story, and I think it will find a home pretty soon."

Cyrus says they have already filmed the pilot for a new television series called 'Still the King.' If the show gets picked up, it won't be Cryus' first foray into acting. The Kentucky native has had a part in several movies and television shows, but his most notable role has been co-starring with his real-life daughter Miley Cyrus on 'Hannah Montana.' The multi-faceted singer also plans to start filming a movie called 'Like a Country Song' in May.

Travis also has significant acting experience, including stints on 'Touched By an Angel.' According to IMDB, he also played a sheriff in a movie called 'The White River Kid' in 1999. So while it's ironic he's playing the role of a lawman just one year removed from several arrests, it's not without precedent.

The 'Achy Breaky Heart' hitmaker is also promoting his memoir 'Hillbilly Heart,' which he's dedicated to "the dreamers." It's only fitting, since Cyrus has been able to make his own dreams come true by carving out a respectable entertainment career. He's come a long way since 1992, and it sounds like 2013 is going to be another good year for the singer-turned-actor.
