Prayer Before Wedding Photo Goes Viral

praying before wedding photo
Kimberly Burke 2013

Holding true to their vow not to see each other on their wedding day before they walked up the aisle of the church, Bre and Josh Curtas of Virginia, united in prayer before the ceremony. The photo has gone viral twice already this wedding season.

Moments before the wedding began, Josh suggested they hold hands from chairs placed around the corner from one another and pray for their marriage.

That commitment will carry them through many days ahead whether they be joyous or sorrowful. In the society in which we now live, it is rare, indeed, to see this love and with such a beautiful story BEHIND the picture, I felt it needed to be shared.”- Photographer Kimberly Burke

Bre wrote in her blog:

My husband prayed that God would bless our marriage, that through thick or thin together we would never lose hope in one another. That instead of focusing on each others’ imperfections we would always rely on Christ’s perfection. That we would wake up every day and choose to love one another not through our own strength but by the power of Christ’s perfect love.”

The couple also made the decision to not have sex until after they were married.

Parents have been sharing this photo with their own children who are dating or engaged to be married. It serves as a powerful reminder to enter into marriage with the right God-centered attitude, compassion, and mutual respect for one another.

Thank you Josh and Bre, for setting the standard by which young couples should enter holy matrimony.
