The Power of Pink
Pink is the new color of courage and hope. And Sunday’s participants of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Sioux Falls decked themselves out in various shades of the powerful color. Many were seen wearing pink tutu’s, wigs, shirts, hats or anything else they could think of to honor those in their fight to cure breast cancer.
Most of the donations for this event come from team participation. So with over 140 teams signing up this year, a new record, the $100,000 goal was half-way met even before the race started.
Everyone that participated in the Race for the Cure in Sioux Falls were winners. But the survivors of breast cancer that crossed the finish line were given a little something special: a completion medal with a pink lanyard. And that lanyard had the most important word of the day printed on it: SURVIVOR.
