A fight between a man and former girlfriend in Sioux Falls ended up sending one of them to the hospital.

"A woman returns home with her two-year-old son," Sioux Falls Police Information Officer Sam Clemens tells us. "She ended up finding her former boyfriend (the child's father) outside the apartment. He wanted to spend some time with the child. But, he was intoxicated and she didn't want him in the house. Eventually she went inside. A few minutes later there was a knock at the door. She thought it was someone else. When she opened the door, she saw the former boyfriend was there. He then forced his way inside and began punching her. A friend showed up and tried to separate them. The former boyfriend was able to get back at her and strangled her to the point of losing consciousness. She went to a back bedroom. When he tried to get in, she used a knife and stabbed him in the arm. That's when he left."

The 27-year-old man, identified as Dikorimana Obede, is charged with aggravated assault domestic, first degree burglary and intentional damage to property.
