Sioux Falls Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says an arrest has been made in connection with a Thursday assault.

"Our suspect came along and challenged the victim to fight. The victim didn't want anything to do with that. The suspect then pulled out a box cutter and started swinging it. The victim tried to run away. But, the suspect grabbed him, pulled his shirt down and tackled him. They started fighting in the street. Somebody saw it taking place and called police. Officers arrived and separated the two. The suspect was arrested for aggravated assault."

The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Jacob Beer, a Sioux Falls transient.

The victim did not require medical attention.

The two men had been drinking.
