Sioux Falls Police are reminding citizens to lock their vehicles after multiple vehicle related thefts in Sioux Falls this weekend.

Lieutenant Dave McIntire says a gold Chevy Malibu was stolen from the Get n Go at the 900 block of S. Marion Road Sunday morning.

"They were making a purchase in the store. When they came out, the vehicle was stolen. What makes this case a little different is that shortly after it happened we got a call from OnStar."

McIntire says the timeline of when the crime was reported around 6:46 AM. OnStar was able to help the police locate the vehicle and turn it off at 7:05 AM.

Caden Larsen, 18 of Sioux Falls, as well as a 17-year-old juvenile were arrested in the theft of the vehicle. Larsen was already on probation for unlawful entry and burglary, and was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.

There was another incident of two firearms stolen from an unlocked car in the Sioux Falls area over the weekend. McIntire wants to remind people to be aware of the repercussions of leaving vehicles unlocked.
