A Sioux Falls mother has been arrested and police are looking for her son in connection with an assault near the American Legion.

"There was a former boyfriend and girlfriend involved," according to Police Spokesman Sam Clemens.

"She apparently left something in the car. She found the man in the bar and wanted to get into his vehicle. He gave her the keys expecting she was going to take it. When the woman brought it back that's when things came to a head. He started yelling at her. Her son grabbed a baseball bat, started swinging it and struck the man several times. There was a friend of the victim who tried to step in. The former girlfriend punched the friend."

That woman has been identified as 48-year-old Kelly Emerson of Sioux Falls.

"We were able to find the woman that was the suspect. She was arrested for simple assault. We are still searching for her son."

Clemens says the male victim suffered a collapsed lung and injured hand.
