It's still fairly new that multiple events, in the biggest venues, take place simultaneously in Sioux Falls. This past Saturday the city experienced three events at once and people were out to support all of them.

The Sioux Falls Stampede, Skyforce, and Augustana College all had events on Saturday night that started around 6:30 PM. The Stampede played at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, Skyforce at the Sanford Pentagon, and Augustana at the Sioux Falls Arena.

In the past, only two of these events would take place. The Skyforce or Stampede would play at the Sioux Falls Arena, and Augustana would be at the Elmen Center. Now with a variety of facilities, all three have been able to "step up."

The Skyforce hosted Los Angeles for the only time this season in front of 3,012 people at the Sanford Pentagon. Los Angeles was led by a 50 point performance by Jabari Brown to seal a 124-99 victory. Sioux Falls was led by Tyler Johnson's 19 points.

It took overtime at the Sioux Falls Arena to separate Augustana College and Minnesota State. 3,654 packed the arena as the Vikings outscored Minnesota State 20-11 in overtime for a 98-89 victory. Casey Schilling scored a career high 32 for the Vikings.

Although it wasn't at the same time as the other two events, a shoutout to the 2,741 people who attended the Augustana women's basketball game at the arena. The game started at 4:00 against Minnesota State.

Finally the Sioux Falls Stampede had a tough contest against one of the best teams in the USHL at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. The Herd quickly found themselves down 2-0 against Omaha, but rallied back to force overtime. After a five minute overtime period, Omaha was able to outscore the Stampede 3-2 in a shootout. Omaha defeated the Stampede 4-3 in front of 6,289.

In total 12,955 people attended the sporting events in Sioux Falls on Saturday night. Considering the NFL Playoffs being on TV, a bitterly cold night in the town, and multiple options around town, 12,955 is a fantastic number.

Great job Sioux Falls! It was a great Saturday night!
