Sioux Falls O'Gorman survived a tough second day of the state golf tournament to claim the first championship awarded for the 2017-18 school year.

This year's tournament was held at Hillsview Golf Course in Pierre. O'Gorman shot -1 as a team on day one and took a two-stroke lead over Rapid City Stevens.

The second day would provide a challenge for all teams participating. O'Gorman shot +10 to finish at +9 overall and a team score of 585. Stevens fell just short shooting a +9 on Tuesday to finish +10 overall and a team score of 586. Sioux Falls Roosevelt finished in third at +15.

Bryce Hammer led the Knights shooting even par, while Blake Dornbusch (+3), Justin Kolb (+4), and Sam Sutcliffe (+4) helped solidify the state championship. Pierre's Austin Hoss had the best overall score at -7.
