Sioux Falls experienced yet another tragic car vs. motorcycle fatality on Sunday afternoon.

The accident occurred just after 4 PM on Sunday, August 23.

Officials say a 56 year old Sioux Falls man was killed when the  2012 Harley Davidson Road Glide Motorcycle he was riding collided with a car near 41st Street and Westbrooke Lane.

Witnesses say the man on the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet.

A police investigation revealed that a 1991 Buick Regal, driven by Trevor Blankartz, 25, of Sioux Falls, was attempting to enter onto 41st from Westbrooke Lane when it struck the motorcycle traveling west bound.

Sgt. Jason Leach of the Sioux Falls Police Department said Blankartz was checked by paramedics at the scene and appeared to have no injuries. He was later taken to the Minnehaha County Jail and booked on charges of vehicular homicide, DUI and careless driving.

A large portion of 41st Street from Marion Road to Fairhall Avenue was blocked off as a result of the accident.
