October is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month [VIDEO]

Christie Bowar was our guest recently to raise awareness for Down syndrome. Sioux Falls is home to New Directions and their goal is to provide information about Down syndrome, direction to resources, and networking opportunities.

New Directions strives to enhance the lives of individuals with Down syndrome throughout their lifespan by providing support, information and education to those individuals, their families, and professionals.

New Directions also seeks to provide the entire community with information and education to broaden awareness and foster positive attitudes regarding individuals with Down syndrome.

If you would like more information on the joys of adopting a child with Down syndrome, we invite you to attend the "Stories of Adoption" information seminar on Sunday, October 21st from 2 to 4pm.at Bethany Christian Services, 400 S. Sycamore Ave., in Sioux Falls.

Daycare will also be available we ask that, if possible, RSVP, so we know how many daycare providers to have on hand for the event. Call 336-6999.

You could also become a member of this awesome and powerful network. Membership includes more than 200 families from South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska, and is quickly growing!

One only needs to look at Christie's own son Rigley, and his proud sisters, (cover photo) to know what beautiful children with Down syndrome are capable of achieving.
