Hey, if you're a fan of playing the Powerball in South Dakota, good news, your odds of winning a prize just improved. But it comes at the expense of a longer shot at the jackpot.

The Legislative Rules Review Committee approved new rule changes to the game on Monday, August 17, 2015.

The new set of rules was initially authorized by the state Lottery Commission and are set to take effect in October.

Starting in October your overall odds of winning a prize will be one in about 25 instead of one in about 32. But your shot at winning the jackpot now goes to one in 292 million. That increase is up from one in 175 million.

The $10,000 third prize is also on its way up. It's jumping to $50,000.

With the new rule changes players can buy up to 10-times multipliers applicable to many prizes.

The initial jackpot however will stay at $40 million.
