SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A new judge has been sworn in to the 2nd Judicial Circuit serving Lincoln and Minnehaha counties.

KELO-TV reports that Mark Salter was sworn in as the 35th judge in the 2nd Judicial Circuit on Friday.

Salter replaces William J. Srstka, who is retiring.

Salter has worked at the U.S. Attorney's Office since 2004. He has been the chief of the office's appellate division since 2009. Before that, he worked at a private practice in civil and business law. Salter also is a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Salter says he is grateful for the opportunity.
