Ceremonial shovels started the process of building a new $12 million complex on the east side of Elmwood Golf Course and a stone’s throw from the Denny Sanford Premier Center.

Dignitaries from Sioux Falls and Quest Development of Aberdeen, South Dakota broke ground on the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites which is slated for completion in the fall of 2017. Features in addition to the 116 hotel rooms include a conference center and the Crooked Pint Ale House restaurant which will reside on four-acres at the north end of Western Avenue where it meets Russell Street.

According to a press release from the City, Mayor Mike Huether expressed his excitement for the project. “This is another big investment and development near our new Events Center, and it takes Elmwood Golf Course to an all new level. A golf resort across the street from the Events Center makes for one great getaway.”

Quest Development President Kevin Weisbeck added his expectations for the area. “We are excited to begin construction on this state-of-the-art Holiday Inn and Crooked Pint Ale House. The project, which is adjacent to the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, will be a great place for friends and family to stay when visiting the Sioux Falls area. The hotel will have all the amenities guests are accustomed to, and the unique and impressive design will be a great addition to the Sioux Falls community.”

This will be the third hotel to open in the Sports and Entertainment District since the PREMIER Center broke ground in 2012. The Aerostay Hotel which is connected to Sioux Falls Regional Airport opened in 2015 and the Fairfield Inn across the street from the Sanford Pentagon has been in service since 2013.
