Memorial Stadium in Lincoln has undergone several changes stands over the past few years, as the seating capacity for Nebraska Cornhusker football games continues to increase. But the latest change to Memorial Stadium is the football field itself.

Starting Monday, the existing FieldTurf will be be removed to make way for brand new FieldTurf, which will be installed later this summer.

The existing turf was installed in the summer of 2005.The installation of the new surface, which will have the same design as the old one, will cost $379,120.90 and will be paid for out of the athletic department’s 2014 Capital Projects budget.

Nebraska was the first college to use the synthetic grass-like surface in 1999.
