In 2014 no one who did not have a preference point, including landowners, were able to score a deer tag for the Black Hills. But even if you don't have a preference point, 2015 could be your year.

The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Commission has proposed a significant increase in licenses for 2015. 500 more resident and 40 more nonresident any whitetail tags would be issued, raising the total to 3,500 resident and 280 nonresident tags.

A decision on the season will be made during the GFP Commission meetings June 4-5.

The 2015 Black Hills deer season will run November 7 to November 20. The application deadline is July 17.
